LEAVES’ EYES have always played in a league of their own. The international group has toured all populated continents, playing concerts in more than 50 countries, frequently reach top positions in the album charts and with every output they deliver a multimedia masterpiece when it comes to video clips and artwork. Their live shows are spectacular events with breathtaking stage scenery, including a Viking ship or even the “Swords In Rock” monument from Norway. LEAVES’ EYES have been setting world history to music and undeniably, by doing so, have raced to the top of the symphonic metal tree.

With “The Last Viking”, the 2020-monumental-piece of LEAVES’ EYES, they set up their own musical monument that is just as captivating and strong as the saga of the last Viking King itself. They even surpassed their own standards with an original film documentary, “Viking Spirit” from 2021. Filmed worldwide, the growing Viking re-enactment scene has been visually praised here, while fronter Alex and the band became part of this community, long ago. “The Last Viking” fueled expectations what these geniuses will come up next with. Now, "Forged By Fire" is a more than exciting harbinger of their new album "Myths Of Fate" to be unleashed in 2024. Saħħar

Artist

"L-Imlejka," pronounced 'Imleyka,' is a single by Maltese black metal artist Saħħar. This track delves into the lore of the Maltese Archipelago, exploring the story of an obscure mythological character known as the 'Little/Young Queen' of the new year. The song narrates the journey of an old mage who seeks out this enigmatic figure deep within the earth, offering her a Narcissus Flower—a customary gesture—and in return, he receives the gift of arcane knowledge. The track is a lyrical exploration into this lesser-known myth, crafted in a rare language and set to the backdrop of haunting mid-tempo black metal. It forms part of a larger concept album that further explores this theme. Saħħar, responsible for all aspects of the single including instrumentals, vocals, programming, mixing, mastering, and artwork design, has created this piece at TerrierSound Studio, which he owns and operates. "L-Imlejka" is an intriguing offering for fans of the genre, particularly those who appreciate bands like Inquisition.

Knim - When A Star Falls [Fantasy Progressive Rock]

"When A Star Falls"
EP available for the media

Artwork_When_a_Star_Falls_1600_s
"When a Star Falls" is heavily inspired by various progressive rock/metal acts, particularly the likes of Tool, Porcupine Tree, and Oceansize, and the writing process often involved taking fairly straightforward riffs or ideas and simply experimenting with what would happen if the time signature was amended or the idea was chopped up digitally. The writing process initially started during lockdown, with ideas for what would eventually become “The Incongruity Of I” being born out of guitarist Dennis Berry and drummer Peter Nicholson performing home instrument recordings and then passing these back and forth online. This writing process persisted for the majority of the songs on the album, allowing for easier reflection on the longer songs' orders and sudden changes of direction. Once the album had been demoed it was recorded by Ari Rannus, with the final product being the sum of over 18 months of hard work.

The EP's digital release date is December 8, 2023.

Formed originally during the COVID restrictions, Knim started out as a recording project between guitarist Dennis Berry and drummer Peter Nicholson. The original musical idea behind the band was to blend heavy riffs with progressive song structures and complex time changes, and as the band grew into itself this evolved further to include atmospheric synthesizer sections and storytelling lyrical concepts.
The debut album When A Star Falls was originally released independently in late November 2022 to a positive reception, and the band is looking to continue evolving with a view to releasing additional material in 2024

Germany's DETHRONED stream new DOMINANCE OF DARKNESS album at Black Metal Promotion - 30th anniversary

Today, ancient German black meteallers Dethroned stream the entirety of their highly anticipated second album, A Bridge to Eternal Darkness, at the Black Metal Promotion YouTube channel. Set for international release on December 1st via Dominance of Darkness Records, hear Dethroned's A Bridge to Eternal Darkness in its entirety exclusively HERE.

Dethroned are one of the most cult entities in the rich (yet often overlooked) history of German black metal. The band's roots stretch back to 1991, with the band Mysticism, who released but one demo. From Mysticism's ashes came Dethroned in 1993, founded by the trio of Barkayal, BSoD, and Morgoth. Over the course of the next three years, the band would release a half-dozen demos, faithfully exuding the spirit of the mid '90s black metal scene. In 1998, Dethroned would release a live tape, Christentod, which would include a couple bonus tracks that were from an aborted 7" EP. They would retreat to the shadows for a full decade before emerging with Promo 2008, soon followed by the Dominance of Darkness-released In the Sign of the Pentagram, a retrospective compilation covering their '90s works. Another hiatus ensued until 2016, which saw Dethroned release a split album joined by fellow German hordes Sacrilegious Rite and Goatblood. At long last, in 2017 did they release their first full-length, Bluotrunst, thankfully sounding very much like the '90s never ended.

And so it goes (and, as expected, after some years of silence) with Dethroned's second album, A Bridge to Eternal Darkness. Something of a 30th anniversary release for the Germans, A Bridge to Eternal Darkness is truly titled: 47 minutes of trend-free olde-worlde black metal, serving as a portal to mysteries and mysticism beyond the mien of mortals. Like the mythical era from which they sprang, Dethroned here maintain a curious contrast between stark monochromatism and borderless songwriting - a throwback to the days when you immediately knew you were experiencing BLACK METAL, but each band offered unique twists in its make-no-mistake presentation. As such, A Bridge to Eternal Darkness is a deceptively dynamic listen. Aggression is certainly accounted for, but so is melancholia, and often within the same song; songwriting largely sticks to mid-tempos at once triumphant and sashaying, martial and reposed. Guitars are sharp and cold, of course, but actual bass guitar pushes those dynamics forward; foggy synths linger where they may, intermittent but always with powerful purpose. The production is superlative in its balance between effervescent rawness and crystalline clarity, altogether highlighting the very real (and very impassioned) playing across the album. Concluding in a manner most fitting is a cover of the scene-legendary Grausamkeit, honoring both tradition as well as BSoD and Barkayal's years in Dethroned.

Keeping matters DIY, guitarist John Never handled all artwork (exterior and interior) for A Bridge to Eternal Darkness. To celebrate this anniversary, Dominance of Darkness will concurrently reissue Bluotrunst as a six-panel digipack CD with alternate cover art. Hate, riot & blasphemy since 1993: Dethroned strike a blow against modernity!
