Ninety Two Degrees - Dystopia - (Hard Rock)

Release Date: February 2022

FFO: Queens of the Stoneage, Alice in Chains, Paramore, Siouxsie and the Banshees

Location: Australia

2020 heralded the arrival of a highly revelatory year that forced humanity through the eye of the needle of consciousness to express the deeper delusion that exists within the current Dystopian state of the planet. This highly evocative album brings together a fusion of global energy’s to draw attention to this need for deeper liberation to come from within.

On this album, we have returned to our hard rock roots to embrace the Dystopian state of our world and our desperate need for self-correction. So, the songs reflect this deep attitude to use high energy well-crafted songs with a real worldly message that will appeal to a broader audience. Ninety Two Degrees is a group that defies convention that has the purity of truth at its core and the members all understand the role they play.

PARADISE IN FLAMES – ACT ONE ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Brazilian Symphonic Black Metal band Paradise In Flames’ new album.

This release delivers colossal orchestrations juxtaposed with ravenous riffs that deliver an evil aura, though at times it feels somewhat artificial. While the operatic vocals and talented synths create a good ambience, their combination with the rest of instruments sounds too much as Cradle Of Filth, and the Dani Filth-inspired vocal performance doesn’t quite aid, even though it doesn’t reach the same level of absurdity and is recorded more seriously, leaving some room for instrumentation too.

Although some parts seem like generic Symphonic Metal, there are some decent songs on the release that may appeal to fans of the grandiose, such as “Bringer Of Disease” or “Dancer Of The Mist”. Fans of exaggerated Black Metal as done in the 90s by more commercial bands may enjoy the album, but it is definitely not for fans of purer subgenres.

I recommend this album to fans of Symphonic Black Metal. My rating is of 7,5/10.

Switzerland's DEATHCULT premiere new track at "Legacy" magazine's website

Today, Swiss death metallers Deathcult premiere the new track "Doxology and Putrescence" at Legacy magazine's website. The track is the second to be revealed from the band's highly anticipated second album, Of Soil Unearthed, set for international release on January 28th via Invictus Productions. Hear Deathcult's "Doxology and Putrescence" in its entirety exclusively HERE.

It's been nearly six years since Deathcult's highly acclaimed debut album, Beasts of Faith, jointly released by Invictus and Iron Bonehead. A long-brewing work given the band's formation in 2010, Beasts of Faith nevertheless evinced an ageless wisdom through timeless, terrorizing Metal of Death. Stout songwriting reigned supreme, as did a more thoughtful integration of the band's noble influences from the late '80s and early '90s, altogether combining hooks and crunch into a dervish of malevolent (and immediately memorable) energies.

Never ones to rush their art, Deathcult once again emerge from the shadows with their second full-length, Of Soil Unearthed. All but a few seconds in and it's recognizably Deathcult - filth, fury, heaving hooks, gut-churning crunch - and from there, the quartet dole out eight titanic tracks that span a surprising wealth of dynamics whilst remaining firmly within the classic death metal pantheon. The production, in particular, heightens the hideous energy coursing through Of Soil Unearthed, proving that truly morbid - and truly physical - DEATH METAL is alive and undead, and that steely-eyed professionalism need not dampen authentic underground spirit. In fact, it's not remiss to suggest that Deathcult here could've been time-warped from 1993, so thoroughly ingrained is the band's eternal DNA...but there likewise exists a certain ceremonial aspect to Of Soil Unearthed that puts the record into rarefied territory.

An evil shade of grey under the sign of the black mark, Deathcult explode with a brilliantly doomed new palette. Of Soil Unearthed will bury all and sundry!

Continue burial preparations exclusively HERE, courtesy of Legacy, Germany's premier extreme metal authority. Begin burial preparations with the previously revealed "Swine of Oblivion" HERE at Invictus Productions' Bandcamp. Cover and tracklisting are as follows:

SEVEN NINES AND TENS' 'Over Opiated In A Forest of Whispering Speakers' Out Now/Streaming

Vancouver (BC) - Willowtip Records has released Over Opiated in a Forest of Whispering Speakers, the new album from Seven Nines and Tens. Stream the album in its entirety at:

"Seven Nines and Tens nails the perfect balance of riffs and atmosphere, of grit and serenity."
- Toilet ov Hell

"Absolutely brilliant. You can listen to the album in the background and it still sounds great, but when you immerse yourself in it with headphones in a dark room, it's the perfect thing." (4.5/5)
- Metal Epidemic

"As challenging as it is, the overall appeal of such weirdness is what makes this a standout release of 2022. Even at this early stage, Seven Nine and Tends have set the bar very high." (9/10)
- Games, Brrraaains & A Head-Banging Life

"It’s post-metal in the sense that Seven Nines and Tens deliberately escape classification. When they do lean into muscularity, their riffs harken mathy noise rock."
- Invisible Oranges

"As complex, multi-faceted and heavy as it is melodic, focused and accessible." The elements that contribute to that overall sound include pretty much any genre you can throw a post in front of. Thus post-hardcore, post-metal, and post-rock. Add in some jazz, some psych and some math, and you’re good to go. A pleasantly progressive melange of all these."
- The Progressive Aspect

"A monument of creativity and technicality."
- Rock'n Force

"Parts shoegaze, parts progressive metal, with nods to quite a varied bunch of influences ranging from Jesu to Intronaut, to Cave In, and Alcest. A gigantic and bass heavy sound, with at times thundering drums and guitars, but the beautifully layered clean vocal choirs take the aggressive edge off it."
- Weirdo Shrine

"Seven Nines and Tens‘ best outing to date."
- Angry Metal Guy

"Especially noteworthy are the harmonized vocals. They are pensive and emotive. The rugged instrumental work is also a key feature. A unique and charming offering within the annals of the overarching Rock genre."
- Metal-Temple

"The kind of thing capable of elevating your heart into your throat."
- No Clean Singing

"Powerful. A continuous transition of situations and personal instances of the band, where every time they feel that things are getting denser, they lower the resolutions and put clean effects or they decide to stop the musical density to give shine to more guitars, acoustics."
- Metallerium

Over Opiated in a Forest of Whispering Speakers still features the sounds on which the band made their name (Post Hardcore, Shoegaze, Progressive Rock, and Math Metal), but features some new stylistic touchstones, such as 70's hard rock, classic rock, and more traditional metal styles. All in all, Over Opiated in a Forest of Whispering Speakers aims to be one of the finest metal albums to be released in 2022 and a career highlight for the band.

Over Opiated in a Forest of Whispering Speakers marks the first time that band founder/songwriter David Cotton wrote lyrics/sang vocals on a Seven Nines and Tens record. The band was never intended to be instrumental and the addition of vocals coupled with the tightest set of songs of their career seems to have elevated the band's sound to another level. In writing the record the band performed live with a ton of acts including Minus the Bear, Alcest, Pinkish Black, Nothing, Elder, Astronoid, Royal Thunder, and many others. The new album marks the arrival of the Seven Nines and Tens sound.

"Seven Nines and Tens are about to shake hands with an entirely new audience. The Vancouver-based post-whatever-you-got anti-genre purveyors have inked a deal to release their cumbersomely-titled third full-length — deep breath in — Over Opiated in a Forest of Whispering Speakers, through Western Pennsylvania imprint Willowtip Records, who are more known for doling out grind and various other forms of extreme metal than heavy or experimentalist rock, but have always had an ear for the forward-thinking."
- The Obelisk

Seven Nines and Tens' third album, Over Opiated in a Forest of Whispering Speakers, is the follow-up to their 2012 debut album Habitat 67, sophomore album
Set the Controls for the Heart of the Slums, and 2019 career-spanning cassette boxset Satisfy the Faction.
