CHAOSFEAR – BE THE LIGHT IN DARK DAYS, ROÇA N ROLL SESSIONS (Review by Varg The Mighty)

Today’s review is of Brazilian Technical Thrash Metal band Chaosfear’s latest album, and the accompanying live release.

Leaving behind their aggressive roots in search for something more modern and Progressive, the band still deliver some decent songs, although fans of old-school Thrash may not enjoy the album. Filled with solos, occasional clear vocals and violent breakdowns crafted with technique, the album has some interesting and catchy tracks such as the title track or “Cold”. The full-length may be comparable to other modern Brazilian Thrash acts such as Apokrisis.

To further promote the album, the band have released this year a live version which displays their power in full effect, truly offering a fine piece for collectors. Fans who still haven’t seen them live will now know the show is as good as on recordings.

I recommend this album to fans of Technical Thrash Metal and Extreme Progressive Metal. My rating is of 8/10.

SUMMONER’S CIRCLE – CHAOS VECTOR ( Review by Varg The Mighty)

Today’s review is of American Progressive Blackened Death Metal band Summoner’s Circle’s new album.

Adding a sort of theatrical feeling to a modern kind of Blackened Death Metal, these lovecraftian storytellers include a slightly dark and surely catchy essence in their music. Even though sometimes the music sounds absurdly incredible in the likes of Dimmu Borgir, it is mostly at the exact spot of exultance that doesn’t sound artificial.

While at times some tracks may sound too forcibly long for some listeners, their Progressive tints and technical melodies aid in giving the whole some depth. This is the kind of full-length that shall surely sound better live than on album, though even checking it out at home you may feel trapped by the lugubrious tale sung throughout the conceptual album and the heavy riffs on songs such as the title track or “Vessel”.

I recommend this album to fans of Blackened Death Metal, Melodic Black Metal and Progressive Blackened Death Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
