Today’s
review is of Spanish Death Doom Metal band Famishgod’s new album.
Consisting
of 7 oppressive tracks of all-encompassing darkness, this album combines the
dreadful slowness of Funeral Doom with heavy riffs of Death Metal greatness
under a sinister and immersive vocal performance.
Not
forgetting the necessary melody to accompany the angst, this album has simple
harmonies that add much more to the atmosphere, bringing Thergothon quickly to
mind. Although it is almost entirely Funeral Doom, this release also has the
dynamic side of Death Doom that adds some bpm while not taking away any of the
obscurity. My personal highlights are “Ascension” and “Rotting Paradise”.
I
recommend this album to fans of Death Doom Metal and Funeral Doom Metal. My
rating is of 9,5/10.
