APPARITION: “Nonlocality” From California Death Metal Act Streaming As Debut LP, Feel, Nears October Release Via Profound Lore Records; Preorders Posted + Release Show Booked

Stream APPARITION’s “Nonlocality” HERE.

Los Angeles, California-based death metal act APPARITION has revealed another new single from their debut LP, Feel, in the form of “Nonlocality.” The track precedes the album’s November release through Profound Lore Records.

APPARITION delivers the follow-up to their 2020-released Granular Transformation 7” with their megalithic debut full-length, Feel; an album of towering, progressive, doomy death metal with hammering, crawling grooves, refined and escalating riffs, and lurching, calculated chord progressions. But Feel goes even further beyond such a crushing abstract as it explores APPARITION’s auditory design where this deep expression of pure death possesses idiosyncratic uncanny musical affectations with engaging ambience and intrigue. One that tethers into the realms of strangeness and the anomalous; an album more influenced by core members drummer/vocalist Andrew Morgan and guitarist Miles McIntosh’s past jazz studies and unique influences outside the old school death metal paradigm.

Feel was produced by Taylor Young at The Pit Recording Studio (Nails, Xibalba, God’s Hate). Not only does his bludgeoning studio tone capture one of the most colossal sounding death metal productions of the year, but Young has also joined the band’s live lineup for all current and upcoming shows surrounding the release of Feel. The album is completed with cover artwork by Abomination Hammer and additional art by Rotten Realm.

Stream APPARITION’s Feel single “Nonlocality” now at THIS LOCATION.

Profound Lore will release Feel on LP, CD, and through digital providers on October 22nd. Preorders for all formats are now available where prior single “Unequilibrium” can also be streamed HERE.

DEADGUY: Killing Music Documentary Of Notorious New Jersey Hardcore Antagonizers To Premiere Alongside Reunion Performance At Decibel Magazine Metal & Beer Fest This Week

New York City-based video production company Fourth Media proudly presents Killing Music, the official documentary celebrating infamous New Jersey noise-driven hardcore antagonizers, DEADGUY.

This authorized documentary chronicles the short-lived career of DEADGUY and their seminal hardcore album Fixation On A Coworker. DEADGUY formed in the early 1990s, uniting members of Lifetime, Rorschach, No Escape, and more. Released in November of 1995 through Victory Records, the album hit like a dull axe blade to the face; an artistic, cynical, creepy, scathing, and unpredictable jolt to the hardcore scene, which instantly became a cult classic of the era. To this day, Fixation On A Coworker remains one of the most influential and standout records of the 1990s metallic hardcore scene as well as with noise rock circuits, having challenged the “norms” of the scene.

Killing Music is a gritty and captivating documentary that retraces DEADGUY’s every move, from the band’s formation and early days, into their two albums and relentless touring, through their challenges and the disputes within its ranks which saw the band emerge with a new lineup before their first album would even see release, and eventual disintegration. Featuring never before seen pictures and videos, unearthed live audio recordings, interviews with every member of the band’s multiple lineups and a wide cast of industry peers, and much more, Killing Music also sees the Fixation On A Coworker lineup reuniting for the first time in more than two decades on camera, as the band prepares to play together for the first time since 1995.

Presented by Cinepunx, Killing Music will premiere this Friday, September 24th at Underground Arts in Philadelphia. The entire film will be played in conjunction with a Broken Goblet tapping event for DEADGUY’s Makeshift Atomsmasher Beer, followed by a question-and-answer interrogation of the members of the band and the filmmakers.

The following evening, Saturday, September 25th, DEADGUY’s Fixation On A Coworker lineup will perform as of the primary artists performing at Decibel Magazine’s Metal & Beer Fest, joining Napalm Death, Converge, Immolation, Pig Destroyer, Municipal Waste, and more.

Episode #227 - With Guests Crisix and Snipers of Babel

DRUID LORD reveal first track from new HELLS HEADBANGERS album

Today, doom-death titans Druid Lord reveal the new track "Thirteen Days of Death." The track is the first to be revealed from the band's highly anticipated third album, Relics of the Dead, which will see release late fall through Hells Headbangers on CD and cassette tape formats; the vinyl LP version will follow next year. Hear Druid Lord's "Thirteen Days of Death" in its entirety HERE at Hells Headbangers' official YouTube channel.

For years, Druid Lord were one of the metal underground's best-kept secrets. It wasn't until the band signed with Hells Headbangers for the release of their second album, Grotesque Offerings, when Druid Lord finally started receiving their due. Massively acclaimed, Grotesque Offerings displayed Druid Lord in all their doom-death glory: eerie, utterly crushing, and simply MOLTEN beyond measure. This was the sound of supernatural horror writ large, painted with bold strokes and even bolder heaviness.

And while eight years separated their two full-lengths to date, thankfully, Druid Lord return in comparatively quicker time with Relics of the Dead. Wisely sticking to the same formula as its celebrated predecessor - lurching-tank riffs, lurking-dread atmosphere, completely skull-crushing production - here do Druid Lord render their third album a more concise counterpart that, somehow, also finds them at their doomiest. The leads still linger like funeral fog, the sense of space even wider (and eerier) than before, and the slo-mo riffs surprisingly catchy, but the eight-song/46-minute runtime makes the cinematic effect feel more compact. Of course, it's Druid Lord and there's no compromise in their titanic doom-death, but the spellbinding acoustic interlude "Nightside Conjuring" chills to the fucking bone while the outro "Ethereal Decay" is likewise aptly titled - small, thoroughly thought-through developments from a band continually at the height of their powers.

If Grotesque Offerings was a mini-classic in the making, harkening the arrival of the new doom-death lords, then Relics of the Dead is Druid Lord's grand coronation!

Witness the first sounds of that coronation with the brand-new track "Thirteen Days of Death" HERE at Hells Headbangers' official YouTube channel. Release date, cover art, tracklisting, and preorder info for Relics of the Dead to be announced shortly. For more info, consult the links below.
