DAUÞUZ set release date for new AMOR FATI album, reveal first track

Today, Amor Fati Productions sets November 12th as the international release date for Dauþuz's highly anticipated fourth album, Vom schwarzen Schmied, on CD and vinyl LP formats.

Since their bolt-from-the-blue debut In finstrer Teufe in 2016, Germany's Dauþuz have created a rich and vibrant catalog. Their black metal is proud and purist but by no means blinkered; the ancient ways are revered, for sure, but new vistas of the imagination open up when Dauþuz commit their stories to tape. And those stories largely focus on mining, both across their native land and the whole of Europe, further enriching their olde-worlde appeal.

Now, more than a year after the expansive mini-album Grubenfall 1727, a new work echoes from the depths of the underworld: a new full-length saga from Dauþuz, bearing the title Vom schwarzen Schmied. Translated into English as "Of the Blacksmith," Vom schwarzen Schmied is arguably the band's most focused recording to date, evincing a totality that can only come from Dauþuz All-consuming darkness and lyrical despair, which ultimately leads to fatal realization, characterize this fourth full-length from the mining black metallers. And yet, its utterly epic landscape and absolutely invigorating melodicism make Vom schwarzen Schmied a paradoxically "uplifting" experience, fully bringing to life the saga of the blacksmith, an old acquaintance from the Dauþuz universe. And nearly topping an hour in length only serves to make that experience all the more engrossing: the band's dazzling interplay, in turn, renders the album a swift 'n' masterful display of their songwriting prowess. MANTRA drops behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of MEDIUM, a record of which both sides can be played at the same time

MEDIUM, the third album by Mantra released in 2019, is a hell of an experiment. It’s made of two 17-minutes long songs that can be played on their own and that follow the course of a lifetime, respectively from the Body and the Mind perspective. But play both songs at the same time and you got a brand new track, “Medium”, a maelstrom of harmonies, polyrhythms and textures carefully arranged by the band. How do you write an album like that? Where do you even start? In “Returning to dust: the making of Medium”, the band takes you through the creative process of the album and invites you to meet the many people who contributed to the record’s making and how the concept of superposition pushed each one of them to innovate in their own field. From composition to developing an interactive web app MANTRA didn’t just write 2 superposable songs. The band members carefully planned out the artwork, the recording and mixing and a very special music video to illustrate and complement the concept. But probably the most interesting addition is the “Medium Experience”, a dedicated web app that allows you to mix both songs yourself in real-time. And to go even further, the band released stems (isolated instrument tracks) for each song, to allow an infinity of new mixes! More about MEDIUM and MANTRA MANTRA was founded in France in 2009 and has since released 3 albums with the label Finisterian Dead End. Released in 2016, “Laniakea”, a concept album set in prehistoric times, was especially well-received. The band is also known for incorporating contemporary dance (inspired by Japanese dance butô) into its live shows. "We really wanted to give people a glimpse of the writing process of the band, especially given the really unique concept of Medium. We feel there is so much to say about what we went through and how we gave birth to this strange object that is this record. We hope it will give people who love the album some bits of behind-the-scenes and little secrets we know they will enjoy, but we also wish that the story behind the record will invite people new to our music to give it a listen and try the Medium experience." A lo largo de más de 25 años y más de 13 millones de álbumes vendidos, Placebo ha demostrado ser un maestro en catalogar la condición humana. La única frorma de la banda de examinar tanto sus defectos como sus virtudes los ha convertido durante mucho tiempo en un refugio para aquellos que sentían que las trampas de la tradición y la corriente principal eran exactamente eso: una trampa. El placebo sigue arrojando luz sobre los aspectos de nuestra sociedad que con demasiada frecuencia algunos ven con escepticismo en el mejor de los casos y con odio en el peor.

 

El nuevo single "Beautiful James" llega con una emoción que nace en un mundo que está tan dividido como siempre. Con el telón de fondo de las relaciones globales divididas, abuso indiscutible y el temor generalizado entre los de mente cerrada de lo que no pueden entender, "Beautiful James" trae consigo un mensaje de desafío que busca normalizar y celebrar las relaciones no heteronormativas en una canción.

Brian Molko comenta más sobre el lanzamiento de "Beautiful James":

“Si la canción sirve para irritar a las plazas ya tensas, que así sea. Pero sigue siendo imperativo para mí que cada oyente descubra su propia historia personal dentro de ella; realmente no quiero decirles cómo se han de sentir ".

 

Creada tras días de insomnio, la banda dio un giro a su proceso creativo para dar vida a "Beautiful James". Significó abordar su trabajo juntos de una manera nueva, que comenzó primero con imágenes fotográficas y un título de canción que evocaba un cierto sentimiento, mucho antes de que se escribiera cualquier música. El resultado es tan poderoso como tierno: una obra de arte decididamente desafiante y necesaria.

 

"Beautiful James" no es una polémica, ni siquiera una conversación. Es una declaración tan clara y audaz como nunca lo han hecho.

FATHER TIME
This song was originally titled "Victims of Time" and was written in an angry mood, a previous NWOTHM band Bjørn (the singer) was in, was often criticized about not being original and "stuck in the eighties". He felt he was born in the wrong musical era; a victim of time. Right now the song "Father Time" can have so many other interpretations. Are we victims of the time we live in... Curfews and deadlines. Being late for something. Feeling old? Or too young? Or did you get crushed by a giant standing clock falling from the sky?  The music came almost intuitively and by a joined effort, this became the bands biggest project so far, a song where everyone in the band had the opportunity to shine. We tried to explore a darker side end be more experimental and a solo where guitars whirl around each other. It created our longest and more epic song.
"Father Time" is a mean bastard and we all obey his clock as his loyal servants. Just reflect on the past years and how quickly everything changed in life… It’s insane.
 
“Father Time” is going to be released as single on all digital platforms on September 17th, 2021
