MOONSPELL Teams Up With MY DYING BRIDE, BORKNAGAR, WOLFHEART & More For “Ultima Ratio Fest” European Tour In 2022!

In order to celebrate their -nothing short of amazing- 30 years career, crowned by the band’s latest and critically acclaimed studio album Hermitage live, together with their European wolfpack, the undisputed kings of the dark, MOONSPELL, have announced a series of tour dates for 2022!

Ever since their formation 30 years ago, the Portuguese took the international heavy music scene by storm, followed by a monumental journey through an impressive, enthralling yet various back catalogue of thirteen records earning their places as one of the most distinctive dark metal classics of all time. But playing live has always been the motor of the band. Especially after the world went into shutdown the more MOONSPELL showed the typical hunger of wolves, and just revealed to team up with no one less than MY DYING BRIDE, BORKNAGAR, WOLFHEART and HINAYANA for an extensive European tour run in 2022!

My Dying Bride, one of THE doom metal bands per excellence joins this high- class line-up. Along with Paradise Lost and Anathema, the British band from Halifax has been lauded as one of the Doomy Three who popularised the genre in the 90s. However, the formation was rarely seen on tour - in this respect the “Ultima Ratio Fest” tour not only offers one of the rare opportunities to experience My Dying Bride but to celebrate their latest album, "The Ghost Of Orion”, live.

Progressive Black Metallers Borknagar are no strangers to the scene either. Founded in 1995 and featuring members of acts such as Enslaved, Immortal, Gorgoroth and Ulver, there’s hardly any other formation that developed classic Black Metal with as much musical versatility as these Norwegians!

And although the Finns of Wolfheart have only been active since 2013, they have left a big stamp with their heavy, melodic doom metal sound. Their last album "Wolfes Of Karelia" even made it to number #8 in the official album charts. Up&coming melodic death metal band, Hinayana, rounds up this eclectic tour package: The Texas- based band made their debut in 2018 but with their latest record, "Death Of The Cosmic", they stepped out as one of the US best kept metal secrets!

Says MOONSPELL frontman Fernando Ribeiro about the upcoming tour: “Musically speaking, this might be the best tour Moonspell has ever joined. My Dying Bride is one of our favourites when it comes to deep emotional songwriting and there's no one that can spell Doom as they do. Borkanagar’s last album (Pure North) is a masterpiece and of course that Wolfheart has a special place in our “heart” for reasons that are obvious. We will be celebrating our 30 years together as a band in amazing company and if you’re into bands that “do it for the music” this is a one of a kinda experience that no true fan can afford to miss.

We will be revisiting our career and play classics, new songs and hidden gems alike, so the hype is real, brace yourself for an extraordinary voyage in the amazing company of these bands, probably the best and most heartfelt tour of 2022.”

30 years of MOONSPELL, and blessedly the band doesn’t show any signs to slow down soon. With their latest record Hermitage, the gothic metal masters proved they still belong to the first league of the darkest art of sounds. To celebrate their band anniversary in style, MOONSPELL furthermore announced to reissue their fifth, 2001- album, Darkness And Hope, as well as the pathbreaking Irreligious! One can be sure, their upcoming live performances will contain an exciting blend of timeless classics and modern MOONSPELL anthems. With a ticket sale to start on October 1, 2021 make sure to catch this killer live package live on tour!

ZETAR premiere new track at MetalBite.com

Today, sci-fi black/death metallers Zetar premiere the new track "Landru" at heavily trafficked web-portal MetalBite.com. The track is the second to be revealed from the band's highly anticipated debut album, Devouring Darkness, set for international release on October 15th via Spirit Coffin Publishing. Hear Zetar's "Landru" in its entirety exclusively HERE.

Named for a planet of telepaths who'd transcended into a roaming mass of pure psychic energy to curtail their own meteoric extinction, sci-fi themed black/death metal trio Zetar initially formed in 2019 as a solo act via Austin, Texas-area musician R.G., who'd forgo the public demo process in favor of developing recording and compositional skills in private alongside a host of talented international conspirators. The circle was complete with the addition of French vocalist T.P. and relentless Ecuadoran drummer David Lamas, both of whom add their own extra-dimensional touch of madness and malevolence to the album's living and breathing psychic mass.

Seeking to graft their collective disembodied consciousness onto new hosts, the trio present Devouring Darkness as a trance of transitive black and death metal properties, exposing fresh mythos and mystery within our undiscovered infinitum. Computer gods! Universal evils! Mind-rending telepathic control! Serpentine melodies and jagged riffs intertwine to power all warp coils through these eight steadily bounding expeditions: All horrors (and wonders) beyond are revealed via this oddity of unclear influences, which range from classics of '90s death metal, synth-laden and thrashing black metal, and classic science fiction scores.

Invoking the names of artists as vastly different as Michael Schenker Group, Blood Incantation, Immortal, and Acheron as just a few shades of vast influence, R.G.'s work isn't focused on emulating current or past greats: "My drive was to challenge myself to do something I’ve never done before. In the process of discovery, my guitar playing improved; I began playing bass, and started working with analog synth. This ultimately tapped into creativity that I hadn’t found in years - I went to college to be an artist, then a writer. It was never about being more brutal or heavy than anyone else, but to capture the music that was in my head, something that I wasn’t really hearing from other bands."

The artist's ethos also seeks to capture the true, tangible essence of heavy metal recordings to some degree, choosing to forego muddy down-tuning, direct-input recording, and any artificial pace-keeping: "Overall, I wanted the album to have a bit of a nasty, gritty, filthy, underground vibe to it. I didn’t want it to be too clean, sanitized, and sterile like a lot of 'perfect'-sounding modern extreme metal albums. I believe metal should have some of that element, though it shouldn’t be a distraction." The result is an out of-this-world yet entirely carbon-based species of black/death metal.

Hear for yourself with the brand-new track "Landru" exclusively HERE, courtesy of MetalBite.com. Also hear the previously revealed "Lights of Zetar" HERE at Zetar's Bandcamp, where all formats can be preordered. Cover artwork, courtesy of Bruce Pennington, and tracklisting are as follows:

TERDOR - The new album De Goddeloze Tolgaarder ( Negra Nit Release: 1 October 2021 )

An album of only two songs. The resource is not new, but these initial 14 minutes and 44 seconds, and the slightly more than 19 seconds that follow, say a lot about Terdor’s technical capabilities and their high degree of self-confidence. Departing from war-themed raw black metal in 2005, the Dutch duo now present themselves as an avant-garde and progressive black metal band, without renouncing the true tenets of black metal and its spirit, that’s never going to happen. So don’t expect overproduction or polished sounds, as the gritty De Goddeloze Tolgaarder blast out without artifice, stark, and gritty.
Musically and lyrically, the war ended for them with the EP No Peace For Our Time! in 2010, already released on Negra Nit, and since then the band has not stopped evolving with two albums like Levi and its follow-up Levi II. Now, with this fourth album, Terdor have gone much further.
Written and recorded between 2013 and 2020, De Goddeloze Tolgaarder is exactly like its cover, the work of Marald Art. A strange, unholy, and desolate place, where menacing shadows loom and anything dire can happen. A harrowing and grey journey through a poisoned land that should be attended with an open mind. Thus, fans of Funeral Woods, Blut Aus Nord or the mid-era Mayhem will enjoy it.
It is hard to assimilate these melodies, instrumentation and violent assaults with just one listen. Terdor’s new record needs several chances to drag you victoriously into this mix of Elschschschappij Toveneare himself (guitars, bass, drums) and Den Zwervenaere’s mastering, to abandon you without looking back in this treacherous, muddy, and foul swamp.
