MY FUNERAL released cover of Motörhead's classic ”OVERKILL”

Helsinki based crossover thrash band My Funeral released their own version of Motörhead's iconic song ”Overkill”, dedicated to the memory of LEMMY KILMISTER. The track was produced by Ville Holmström at Studio Muuntamo.

You can listen at this location: https://open.spotify.com/album/7sqWqG0PrCYNbZMfTalUcc?utm_source=embed_v2&go=1&play=1&nd=1

”We decided to record our own version with My Funeral's twist in memory of Lemmy and Motörhead. Most of the song was recorded live in an attempt to achieve a dangerous rock’n’roll overall feel. This is our hommage. We hope that our version will reach the ears of Eddie, Philthy and Lemmy, wherever they may be. LIVE FAST AND DIE OLD!”

My Funeral is currently working on their next full-length album.

KATHAROS XIII – PALINDROME ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of the latest album of Romanian Blackened Doom Jazz Metal band Katharos XIII.

On this album the hints of Black Metal are really scarce and only apparent on some songs, like “Vidma”. Instead, the style they play on this release tends slightly towards Doom but especially some unique kind of ambience heavily influenced by Jazz but with a great amount of darkness. What may come to mind when listening to this are the most experimental songs of Carpathian Forest (for the implementation of dark saxophone melodies), some lighter Opera IX songs (for the vocal style used by the singer) and Rïcïnn (for the unique, kind of Avant-Garde soundscapes).

In their own singular musical style, there does not seem to be any flaw in the music. The composition is pretty good and flows naturally and no instrument seems to damage the sonic result. Although everything is good and interesting on this album, you must not put it on expecting anything extreme or metal, but a dark and occult kind of ambience.

I recommend this album to fans of Symphonic Doom Metal, Jazz Metal, Dark Ambient and Blackened Jazz Metal. My rating is of 9/10.

Hailing from Denver, Colorado, Scepter of Eligos crashes into listeners in a wave of death,
doom, and psychedelic sludge. An amalgamation of heavy styles with an unique spin, Chris
Candelario (bass), Frank Candelario (drums), and Andrew Sares (vocals/guitars) work
collaboratively to flesh out what they describe as “Psychedelic metal of death”. To
accompany their punishing music they craft lyrics based on Sares’ occult practices and
readings. They take their name from Aleister Crowley’s description of Eligos; a Goetic
demon that is said to appear on a winged horse holding a scepter and a serpent.
Since their conception in 2012, the musical careers of the power trio have been a whirlwind
of gigs both on the local and national levels playing with bands such as The Chasm, Manilla
Road, Lycus, and Bongripper garnering attention from a variety of metalheads. Thus far
they have 3 releases to their name; a demo from 2013, the 2017 single “RIP Martin Eric
Ain” and the 2018 EP “MMXVIII”. Pushing onward with grit and determination they will
be releasing the full-length “Inverted Illusions” in 2021.
Boasting live performances that are as varied and intriguing as their music, one can expect
to be overtaken by the energy and succumb to the gritty, cryptic psychedelic doom Scepter
of Eligos channels from the stage.

Black Mask - Warriors of The Night [Demo] (2020)

Black Mask is a band from Mexico City and the State of Mexico that was formed at the end of October 2019. The idea comes from Isaac A. Wild, founder and guitarist of the band, who came with the idea of creating a Heavy Metal band with a female voice. He was looking for an eighties style similar to Original Sin, ACID, Warlock and Bitch.

It started with two members: Isaac Wild on guitar and Liz “Riot” on vocals. After a couple of months Fausto Jiménez, who played the bass, joined the band. The recording started in March 2020 and ended up in July of the same year. The main reason for delay... COVID-19. After some months, the band released Warriors of the night on August 2nd, 2020.

Later the lineup underwent some changes, Fausto left and Andy Slaughter (Guitar), Philthy Lynott (bass) and Omar Caballero (drumms) joined the band. Nowadays the band is finishing the songs that will come on their first album so they can get into the studio at the end of March. They are almost ready! The songs just need a few finishing touches!

oxide - endless road ( Hard Rock / Spain )

Oxide, is a band from Asturias (specifically from Oviedo) with a couple of years of life. His first album was released at the end of November 2020. It is titled Endless Road, and is self-released. Recorded at the OVNI Estudios with Dani Sevillano, and in a couple of songs they have had the incredible opportunity to have a luxury collaboration: none other than Pablo García (WarCry, Alderaán).

They start recording in March 2020 (just a few days before the COVID-19 chaos began), and although the first confinement caught them practically in the middle of the process, little by little they were able to finish off mixes and others, and from November 19 they can finally share the result with everyone.

They don't make metal, but they make a "powerful" rock: there are songs that are more hard-rock, others have a more seventies touch, in some there is a more contemporary sound ... In general, songs played with great enthusiasm.

In addition to a physical CD (available on its website,  www.oxiderock.com, along with more merchandising), Endless Road is also published on the main digital platforms, such as Spotify, YouTube y YouTube Music, Amazon Music, Apple Music, Tidal, Deezer ... From its website you can also access all of them.

They are very happy with the reception that the album is having; the reviews and podcasts of shows they've been played on to date are very positive.

White Death releases single and video for "Beyond Good and Evil", track presents the weight of heavy metal and striking vocals

White Death has just released a new single and music video for the track "Beyond Good and Evil" on all streaming platforms. Check out the video for "Beyond Good a Evil": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1eaac9q0pY

The music video addresses the daily life of a psychiatrist, played by vocalist Priscylla Moreno, dealing with her problems and frustrations that move through a fine line that separates madness from reason. In a society increasingly dependent on meanings, the meaning of the facts and their possible values are becoming less and less visible. The idealization and production of this clip was a partnership between White Death and Ronald Barros Films.

Formed by Priscylla Moreno (Vocal), Aldo Velasco (Bass), Alan Jhonny (Guitar), Flávio Lempresley (drums) and Caio Monteiro (Guitar) the band brings in its name the influence of the stories of Simo Häyhä, a Finnish farmer who participated the winter war between Finland and the Soviet Union in 1939, who was considered a national hero in his country because of his achievements in the war.

"I forget sensibility and abuse my imagination, like water that overflows and no longer sediments'', with this sentence encoding the chorus, the song "Beyond Good and Evil" is the most reflective silence that the band White Death has ever translated. The song immediately brings to mind the various influences that have shaped the band's sound: heavy guitars, reflective lyrics and striking vocals. The translation of this new moment of the band is in this single that was produced, recorded and mastered at Loud Factory Studios in São Paulo, under the direction of Wagner Meirinha and Thiago Assolini.

The art conception of White Death's new single is based on the texts of the philosopher Nietzsche. The artist Fábio Vargas, who was in charge of this endeavor, sought to build bridges between the various references that make up the band's universe and Nietzsche's nihilism. This drawing is the synthesis that infers the whole guiding concept of this work.

At its base, it is possible to observe the strong influence of other bands such as Iron Maiden, DIO, Black Sabbath, Slayer, Metallica, Nightwish, among others.
The band's proposal has always been to focus on authorial songs and with a focus on the differential when mixing musical styles.

Canada’s Maudiir Announce Corrosive Black Thrash Single “The Slumber” Off Upcoming EP Out Feb 2021

Coined as ‘blackened thrash metal’ F of Maudiir takes advantage of complete creative control and effortlessly moves between styles, adding infusions of punk, focused guitar solos, and clean production to the classic black metal vocals and chunky bass riffs.

The first single “The Slumber” off Maudiir forthcoming 2021 EP “La Part du Diable'' starts on a big bass riff flirting with drone guitars and explodes into an epic instrumental black metal section. The song is about the worst personality traits we have seen awaken in some people, and that might have stayed dormant if not for the current situation. Maudiir comments on the EP as a whole:

“I had great reviews for the first EP “Le Temps Peste”. I think the new EP “La Part du Diable” expands on the first one and brings more progressive elements to the songs. I also managed to get the bass guitar at the forefront of the songs, which is not so common in modern metal, so I’m really happy about that. All in all, it’s a pretty interesting and unique listen.”

Creating an intensely dark sound, “La Part du Diable'' was inspired by reactions from people to the health crisis created by Covid, the political climate in the US, and conspiracy theories. This second offering from the band goes in a slightly more progressive and thrash direction than the first, F has also added distortion to the bass guitar giving a Voïvod-esque feel to the songs. It’s a riff-driven  EP with big bass grooves and corrosive vocals, mixing thrash metal and black metal with progressive elements, giving it a unique sound and feel.

Recommended for fans of Skeletonwitch, Darkthrone, and Voivod, “The Slumber” can be heard via its premiere on NoCleanSinging HERE.

The single will be available on all digital platforms on January 8, 2021 and the full EP
“La Part du Diable” is out on February 19, 2021.

Track Listing:

1. Fracture (4:50)
2. The Slumber (4:57)
3. The Fortunate Few (4:54)
4. Spirit of Sulfur (4:34)
5. The Crowning Hour (5:07)

About:

Maudiir, coming from the underbelly of Montreal, Quebec, Canada is an outlet for observations on obedience and industrialization riddled with man-made waste. With 80s heavy metal influences alongside black metal and punk, Maudiir is unique in sound; hauntingly dark while being corrosive and galloping.

Maudiir is a one-man black/thrash metal project that formed to be musically independent. Starting with guitar, F. works his way through each sullen track, adding drums, recording all the colorations and textures of the guitars, adding bass, and finally writing the words, very often at the same time they are being recorded.

The pessimistic aura of the music combines with lyrics about consumer society, religion, science going awry, addiction to technology, and environmental decay.

Maudiir released their debut EP “Le Temps Peste” during February 2020 and now returns exactly a year later with the follow up “ La Part du Diable”
due out February 19, 2021.

Creating an intensely dark sound, "La Part du Diable" was inspired by reactions from people to the health crisis created by Covid, the political climate in the US, and conspiracy theories. It's a riff-driven  EP with big bass grooves and corrosive vocals, mixing thrash metal and black metal with progressive elements, giving it a unique sound and feel.

"I would say that with “La Part du Diable”, I’m going into a slightly more progressive and thrash sound than on the first EP. I also added distortion to the bass guitar this time around, which I think adds a Voïvod feel to the songs."

F. (ex-Deeply Confused, Tears for the Dead Gods) is also currently leading prog/thrash metal outfit Trinity Blast.

“Touches of punk add attitude to these five angry and aggressive pieces of blackened thrash metal and make it an impressive debut EP” -  Loud Enough? Magazine

“Some really great tracks and precise playing makes this debut EP a note worthy event” - Absolute Underground Magazine

"“Le Temps Peste” is overall an engaging listen that, as it progresses, gets even better and more complex, gradually easing you into the building mood and feel of the EP, the first couple of tracks  “Product” and “Abuse The Used” build on bleak Blackened driving riffs alongside a vitriolic rasping vocal delivery, the latter also benefiting from more of a haunting melody developing, a galloping Thrashy second half and soaring lead work which really adds to the sound." 4/5 - The Metal Wanderlust

- Metal France
