Follow Me Dark - Self Titled Debut - (Alt Rock Band)

For fans of Muse, Alice In Chains, Deftones

December 9, 2020 - Alt Rock/Metal band Follow Me Dark ends 2020 on a high note with the release of their self-titled odyssey “Follow Me Dark”. Slated to go LIVE on the winter solstice, the 12/21 release is an impeccable testament to their dedication and perseverance. COVID truly changed everything for musicians, putting them in an introspective position to create art during a time when nobody is playing shows. In light of this, Follow Me Dark chose to focus on finishing their album right in time for the changing of seasons. In the spirit of challenging comfort zones, their full length album is meant to welcome people into listening to something outside of their realm of comfort. Instrumentally, the band taps into multiple genres in an attempt to convey a mood through music to reflect the dimensions that are inside of all of us. Their intricate textural interludes and melodic choruses captivate fans of alt rock, metal, psychedelic rock, indie rock and even rock opera. The modern psychedelic grooves and metal attacks tap into fans of Muse, Alice in Chains and Deftones.

Follow Me Dark’s emotional new album isn’t afraid to confront human nature in a very raw and transparent way. Consisting of Stephen Kozak (vocals/guitar), Sean Batinic (guitar), Elliot Grove (bass) and Jim Boots (drums), the band reveals a chemistry between bandmates that assists in amplifying their message in a relatable yet ‘larger than life’ way. Hailing from Grass Valley, CA, the band has successfully introduced their grassroots following to a progressive approach to songwriting. And in “Follow Me Dark”, the band embraces very organic musical peaks and valleys, offering a refreshing complexity to the alt rock/metal genre. “Too much music nowadays is predictable, it’s unexciting. It’s not surprising. That’s something we pride ourselves in; we try to make music that pushes you into “I didn’t see this coming. I’m off my rocker. I can’t categorize this” says vocalist/guitarist Stephen Kozak.

Full length albums are often hard to come by in our singles-laden world. But “Follow Me Dark” has a unique way of provoking you to commit to listening from beginning to end. The “Follow Me Dark” project embraces the darker parts in all of us that we aren’t always consciously aware of. With the release of their self-titled project, they hope to create an outlet for people who might be confronting some of the same feelings that they do; those feelings of dread, confusion, chaos and anger. In the words of drummer Jim Boots, “There’s a dark, shadowy feeling to the music that’s kind of what the world is going through right now.” And after such a turbulent year, it’s important not to ignore those feelings but to welcome them knowing that many are experiencing the exact same thing. While the light and positive emotions bring us together, so do the dark ones. Our imperfections make us relatable to one another and after a culmination of two years of intense creativity, Follow Me Dark hopes to provide their fans with cathartic & spiritual experience to wrap up a year that is sure to go down in history books.

PHOBOS MONOLITH – WHEN THE LIGHT WILL FADE ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of International Gothic Death Doom Metal band Phobos Monolith’s debut EP.

This release really has an old-school feeling to it, reminding us of early Paradise Lost and Crematory like no other modern band may (especially in the way the solos and melodies are composed). You only have to check the title track and you will instantly be delivered to the origins of the style, when the Doom side wasn’t so prominent and Gothic Metal got combined with guttural vocals and Greek scales beautifully played on guitar.

Perhaps what kind of damages the music is the voice, for it is quite monotonous and seems to be perhaps the only thing that needs improving. In my opinion, it lacks some intonation and fluctuation between lower and higher tones, overall the singer doesn’t get out of the comfort zone in this EP’s performance. Nevertheless, it is a decent voice and it’s surely better than most bands, although it doesn’t reach perfection.

I recommend this to fans of Gothic Metal, Gothic Death Doom Metal and Death Doom Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.

SCREAM AT THE SKY Unleashes New Video For "World Of Hate.

December 28, 2020 - Texas industrial/metal band SCREAM AT THE SKY has unleashed a brand new video for their song, "World Of Hate." The track appears on SCREAM AT THE SKY's self-titled EP which dropped in February of 2020.

The "World Of Hate" video was directed by Erik Gustafson courtesy of Erik Gustafson Cinematography and Brian Carter.

"This is actually one of the first songs I wrote for SCREAM AT THE SKY. I wrote the song about a real life situation of one of my close friends giving up everything because of their world falling down around them .

The song itself was written to inspire people to be proud of what they have. Life tests you every day. But you're not alone because the same battles that you facie involve and impact more than you if you fail.

It's also about looking directly into a person who is not really there in their mind, soul, and spirit; a body walking in a world without a soul... without purpose, only hatred and doubt living in their mind. It's about finding your way by turning your hate into purpose through stepping up and taking the test the world of hate throws at you.

It's written to get a message to the person directly that was and is still fighting their own battles, with hope that one day they get back to doing what they are good at and love. Come down walk in a world of hate. This is just another test that you have to take!!!" - Brian Carter

Biography

"Pity is the most pleasant feeling among those who are little proud and have no-hope of a great conquest” (Nietzsche), the main lines which characterize our philosophy.

We are four guys, from around Lille in the north of France, who came together to form TREYHARSH in 2011. The heavy, brutal and cold atmospheres strongly inspired us to create our own universe, from our compositions to our image, without getting too inked in a category of style. Out of this mix of inspirations will be born trash and death metal compositions. A first album "Reverse" released in 2013 it is the fruit of unwavering perseverance. The eleven tracks have been composed in such a way as to faithfully transmit the energy and the power drawn. From within us with texts worked, and not being engaged coming to embellish a heavy and cavernous song. Since 2013, we have endeavored to transmit our energy through concerts and broadcasts on local radios. We shared the stage alongside bands like Supuration, Hangman's Chair, Psykup or The Ocean, on some events and other dates in France. A second album "When the Sun Sets in the East" self-produced and released in 2017 after more than a long year of work and with the help of R3myboy mixing and mastering (already present for "Reverse"). More aggressive and paradoxically more ambient than its predecessor.

In early 2018, the line up changes and we welcome a new bass player with whom we chain a few dates until the end of the concerts to devote themselves to the composition of a new album: "ETERNAL CYCLES". This time it's Gwen Kerjan from the “Slab Sound Studio” who sticks to the sound, helping us to create a slightly more different universe. More rhythm, more energy and an even heavier song.

We are pumped up and determined to reveal all the energy of this latest album with live shows on French stages, European and beyond!
