Today’s review is of Estonian Melodic Thrash Metal band Maleva’s new album.
This release can be placed in the frontier between Melodic Thrash and NWOTHM, since it includes upbeat choruses with epic touches and modern elements that emulate classic approaches but it also takes a heavier direction from time to time. While the vocals follow cohesive harmonies, at times they feel disorienting due to the language’s sonority, but it’s always interesting to hear Metal in other languages.
The guitar leads create a decent atmosphere that gives the album some dynamism, but there aren’t really any memorable lines neither. If you want something straightforward, full of sentiment, modern and upbeat, you may want to check it out. My personal highlights are the title track and “Rahu”.
I recommend this album to fans of NWOTHM and Melodic Thrash Metal. My rating is of 7,5/10.
