Today’s review is of Romanian Black Metal band Warhymn’s new EP.
This release offers dark atmospheric passages combined with hard hitting and melodic songs that approach Pagan Metal while still being pretty pure Black Metal. As a result, you have a fine combination of modern and classic that fuses into an eerie and transcendental soundscape.
This album is certainly epic, and it includes details that need multiple plays to perceive. There is also a progressive side to the EP that allows it to flow in an even continuation of harmonies at a fairly slow tempo while not leaving behind its heaviness. My personal highlights are the title track and “Fresh Spring In A New World”.
I recommend this album to fans of Black Metal, especially Melodic Black Metal. My rating is of 9/10.
