Today’s review is of Brazilian Progressive Metal band Mortticia’s album “A Light In The Black”.
This album offers Heavy Metal with a core similar to the NWOTHM, imbued with a myriad Progressive tints. There are some long instrumental passages with Iron Maiden influences that weave interesting atmospheres at times, though in other instances the energy may be too low for a Heavy Metal fan and it may only appeal to prog rockers.
Nonetheless, the release is cohesive and moves from one direction to another in a natural feeling way. So, if you’re looking for something complex and full of subtleties mixed with a more classic base, you may be interested in checking this out. In this sense, the band can also be compared to Queensrÿche. My personal highlights are “Hear My Words” and “Dialektik”.
I recommend this album to fans of Progressive Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
