Today’s review is of Canadian Melodic Death Metal band Upon Your Grave’s new EP.
This release offers some classic melodeath with a more energetic than usual Rock rhythm imbued in it, while your commonly expected technical solos aren’t missing here neither.
Another interesting side to this EP is how it also incorporates influences from heavier Death Metal subgenres, at times even slightly showing some Brutal Death Metal elements. As a whole, the release is fresh and balanced between melody and heaviness, though it doesn’t really have any truly outstanding identity. If you want something modern, gruesome and yet moderately flamboyant, check out this EP. My personal highlights are “From Beyond” and “Supremacy”.
I recommend this album to fans of Melodic Death Metal. My rating is of 8/10.
