FORGOTTEN – RETURNLESS ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Turkish Melodic Death Doom Metal band Forgotten’s new album.

This album displays some veteran talent in the genre and offers a surprisingly diverse approach, which spans from pure Death Metal tracks that partly remind of Bolt Thrower to more melancholic and slow songs towards the end in a progressive way from carnage towards misery. This well-conceived tracklist shows a subtle change from song to song, but the last one ends up having almost nothing in common with the first one.

Nonetheless, all styles encompassed are cohesive, and the result is always dark, with a notable amount of acoustic sections that give an epic aura. If you want something heavy, oppressive and melodic in a catchy way that doesn’t halt the momentum, you should check this one out. This band shows here that they’re capable of doing straightforward songs and long and deep ones too with the same quality. My personal highlights are “The Forgotten Demon” and “To A Returnless Path”.

I recommend this album to fans of Death Metal, Death Doom Metal and Melodic Death Doom Metal. My rating is of 9/10.
