Today’s review is of American Power Metal band Resistance’s new album, out on July 22nd.
This release offers classic Power Metal with a mean touch that most bands in the genre lack, and they borrow this element from American Heavy Metal. As so, here you’ll find some soaring anthems with upbeat choruses and screeching twin guitars, but there’s also a faster and rougher side to some songs (especially on the first ones of the album) that may remind of early Manowar.
The result is a solid release that sticks to the formula and sound old-school yet with a dose of freshness. The listener shouldn’t expect anything new, instead just a sweet and catchy piece of metal. My personal highlights are “Valhalla Has Locked Its Doors” and “Earthshaker”.
I recommend this album to fans of Power Metal and American Heavy Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
