Today’s review is of Greek Heavy Doom Metal band Disharmony’s new album.
This release spans through many genres with Heavy Metal always serving as the point of reference. Some songs follow a Thrash direction, other a Doom one and some even have some slight Gothic undertones, all tied together in a Progressive touch. Overall, it tends towards a heavier sound that sometimes even reminds of Judas Priest’s “Painkiller”, although it usually follows a more modern direction that allows for epic auras to flourish, similar to Demons & Wizards’ last album.
Perhaps the main issue with this release is its length, since it may seem excessive to many listeners even if no song is really much of a filler. While it has some interesting parts and powerful tracks, the whole may be a bit too dense. Nonetheless, their genre-flexibility allows them to firmly display their personality in a way that offers a decent result. My personal highlights are “Nogard” and “Of Flesh”.
I recommend this album to fans of Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal, Heavy Doom Metal and Progressive Metal. My rating is of 8/10.
