SIGN OF DEATH – REVIVAL ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of German Thrash Metal band Sign Of Death’s debut EP.

This release includes 5 tracks of pure Teutonic wrath which may remind the listener of Sodom or other classic acts to a lesser extent. Adding to their glorious national approach to the genre some slight hints of early OSDM which bring to mind Death and a touch of modern Thrash, the resulting EP has an epic atmosphere, a fair amount of melody that isn’t enough to consider it part of a melodic subgenre but that transmits more than mindless power chords, a good dose of violence and catchy lyrics.

While the EP has many old-school elements, it may be better enjoyed by listeners of modern Thrash acts such as Warbringer, but any fan of aggressive and mean Thrash may like it. This release displays an emerging band with a lot of potential. My personal highlights are “War Of Minds” and “Hope And Dreams”.

I recommend this album to fans of Thrash Death Metal and Teutonic Thrash Metal. My rating is of 9/10.
