Today’s review is of German Glam Rock band Shameless’ upcoming new covers album, out on May 20th.
The band has teamed up with a legion of well-known special guests to deliver their first covers album, which also includes some new material (even an unreleased Gene Simmons track).
Giving their Glam spin to generally pop songs, the band adds some rock n’ roll to the tracks while maintaining the original commercial ease. While the project is ambitious, the result may feel too long for some listeners and certain tracks feel like fillers. Nonetheless, the release has some decent songs which will appeal to fans of classic Hard Rock performed with glamorous confidence and veteran talent. While it feels natural given the presence of members on this full-length, it’s notably easy to draw comparisons with the general approach of L.A. Guns. Although the album isn’t entirely solid, it sure proves that rock isn’t dead yet. My personal highlights are “Eastbound And Down” and “Live Your Dream”.
I recommend this album to fans of Hard Rock and Glam Rock. My rating is of 8/10.
