Today’s review is of American Heavy Metal band Midnite Hellion’s new album.
This release offers some fun Heavy Metal with certain Crossover and Punk influences that displays a carefree and even comical sonority while still maintaining an energetic approach. With short and straightforward songs mixed with longer and almost serious ones, the full-length may be described as a combination of early Iron Maiden with The Toy Dolls and SOD.
If you like fast Bay Area-like power chords and silly lyrics over a Heavy Metal base then you should check it out, but if you’re looking for a serious Metal album that strives towards epic or negative auras then this is not for you. Despite the album being clearly Heavy Metal, it may possibly be better enjoyed by Punk fans. My personal highlights are “H.M.O.” and “Rapscallion”.
I recommend this album to fans of Heavy Metal, Speed Metal and Punk. My rating is of 7,5/10.
