BLACKSLASH – NO STEEL NO FUTURE ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of German Heavy Metal band Blackslash’s upcoming new album, out on March 11th.

This release offers classic Heavy Metal at its proudest old-school worship. One may easily be reminded of Iron Maiden with their upbeat epic ambiences, prevalent bass activity and thundering guitars. While the full-length highly brings to mind many classic NWOBHM releases, it loses thus its identifying mark and ends up being yet another NWOTHM album, which could’ve perhaps offered a more surprising approach if some extra nerve were to be added, especially on the vocal performance to produce something meaner.

Nonetheless, it is a very solid full-length which includes many melodies and choruses that will surely stay engraved in the listener’s brain. The confidence and virtuosity with which the guitars have been composed is also highly notable, offering great solos that will be of interest for any Heavy Metal fan who enjoys flagrant guitar melodies. My personal highlights are “Queen Of The Night” and “Under The Spell”.

I recommend this album to fans of Heavy Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
