Sisyphean (Lithuania) - Colours of Faith (Dissonant Black Metal)

Intense as well as atmospheric, Lithuanian black metal band Sisyphean have the perfectly tempered sound for this style of music. Their inherent dissonance magnifies their expression, elevating them over hordes of predictable bands, but their real mastery is in crafting thrilling and engaging songs that are both coherent and fulfilling. Everything seems in place and is there for a reason, and they even cover a wide range of emotions, making it a well-rounded affair. Each song bears its own individual sentiment, somehow complementing the songs preceding it, as if carrying on from where the last one ended and doing something more with it. Clearly, it’s a brilliantly written and arranged album, providing for intuitive undulations of extremity and emotions, not only captivating your attention throughout but also moving you. Virtually flawless, ‘Colours of Faith’ is a massively ambitious yet sincere album that ought to be regarded as a landmark album in the style.

NEW RELEASE PREORDER -

Underground fans are probably aware of Drug Honkey and how they add their own twist to industrial death/doom music. The two members of Chicago's Morgue Supplier here both play in Drug Honkey and expectedly, they play death/grind but in a rather unconventional manner. The songs are suitably warped in ways one might find disturbing, even sick, and yet they manage to inject some wicked groove in there or two that stays with you for a couple of lifetimes. Here's one such song which has been premiered by Decibel Magazine AT THIS LINK. The members are even skilled enough to create official videos in the lo-fi old school fashion with haunting clips looped in synch with their music. You can view one of them HERE, while the others are lined up for premieres.

"Anyone looking for a slightly different approach to death metal will find a lot to enjoy on Inevitability
" - Decibel Magazine

For fans of - Wormed, Dendritic Arbor, Cephalic Carnage, Napalm Death, early Brutal Truth, Logistic Slaughter, Maruta

Vile, utterly disgusting and mangled beyond recognition, the music of Morgue Supplier will make your skin crawl after laying maggot eggs on it. The members, also in the infamous band Drug Honkey, have strung together patterns and loops that will make you nauseous and yet will worm their way into your head and remain there as an infernal parasite, for embedded amidst the harsh, jarring, disorienting music are hooks that are shockingly catchy and appealing, perhaps because they’re your only respite in this madness. The demented minds behind this band have taken the very fabric of death/grind and have turned it inside out. The seemingly erratic music has a heinous design behind it all, which is the only way you could explain the brilliant progressions in every song which no one could see coming. There’s much happening underneath layers of acidic vomit-like vocals and intermittent blasts which is a refreshing albeit noxious concoction of various influences from doom, sludge, industrial, grind and everything you could hallucinate in between. They’re just not making it easy for you. You have to prepare yourself for this consciousness-altering experience and wait till you feel the effects of a hundred rusted blades assailing you. Things will begin to make sense toward the end.

For fans of - Inferi, The Faceless, Archspire, The Zenith Passage, Godless Truth

The Last of Lucy have shed the skin of their previous releases to reveal a far more dangerous and lethal creature underneath. It represents the core of their sound, without any frills or slow passages, for on 'Moksha' they've taken on ferocious avatar to decimate from start to finish. It's not a complete departure from their sound; they've only overhauled it, doing away with the unnecessary parts and bringing in ones that highly optimize their performance. Evidently, their music is faster, heavier and catchier than ever before. They've condensed the best elements into something absolutely potent and having devastating repercussions. The catchiness of the music belies its inherent technical nature, as the band spews some of the most vitriolic music with blinding fast speed. Like the grotesque yet fascinating creature on their Par Olofsson cover looking at its reflection, their music too represents something vile yet captivating, and also primal and atavistic. 'Moksha' is the most powerful album yet from this ambitious technical death metal band and it's best to delve into its music fully prepared, embracing its acerbic extremity with all its complexities and grooves alike.
