Today’s review is of American Death Metal band Post Mortal Possession’s new album.
This release is very straightforward despite having a modern approach, and it delivers a direct aggression of gruesome and putrid Extreme Metal to the unwary listener. While the album is clearly Brutal Death Metal in its most grotesque and breakdown-filled way, it has some slight elements of Blackened Death Metal that give some further meaning to all the violence displayed.
Nonetheless, it may only be enjoyed by fans of Death Metal, for it is fairly purist in a sense. If you’re looking for something wretched, technical and above all brutal, then look no further. While it has its personal touch, this one may only be understood by fans of the genre, seeming as yet another band by outsiders despite its tint of darkness upon their savagery. Interestingly, there are also acoustic intros and outros that give a more mystical feeling to the otherwise caveman sonority. My personal highlights are “Apparitions Of Black Elk” and “26 Acres Of Hell”.
I recommend this album to fans of Brutal Death Metal. My rating is of 8/10.
