Today’s review is of Danish Heavy Metal band Metal Cross’ upcoming debut album, out on February 25th.
Marking their first new release after their comeback, the band finally deliver a full-length after their demos from the 80s. Despite being a classic band, the album has a flair of modernity that allows it to be better compared to NWOTHM bands than to other classics. The album displays the ability of veterans of the genre, but it also has a touch of freshness to it.
The songs have a mean kind of Heavy Metal that may approach the definition to rougher subgenres such as Thrash while always being purely Heavy Metal, and certain tracks also have a powerful element of epic music to it that allows for more dynamism as well as catchy songs. My personal highlights are “My Time” and “The Fall Of Cimbria”.
I recommend this album to fans of Heavy Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
