Mainbrain -Jawbreaker Release: 11 February 2022

Since their foundation in 2009, Mainbrain have been clear that, musically speaking, they would dedicate themselves to serial killings. And as if they had been meditating deeply on what their perfect crime should be, now they finally deliver Jawbreaker, their first album.
Along the way, they had already left a good trail of blood with the EPs The Plague (2012) and Feeding The Beasts (2013). And now, putting themselves again in the hands of Fran Corpas for the recording, mixing and mastering, with their debut full-length we can say that they have decidedly opted for polytraumatism by blunt object as their favourite modus operandi.
The band from Málaga plays brutal death, there is no doubt about it, but instead of letting themselves be dragged down by the slam so much in vogue nowadays, they expand their instruments of torture with good old death metal. So, don’t be surprised if ‘Jawbreaker’ reminds you of Cannibal Corpse, or if you even find remnants of Six Feet Under in ‘Pornfucker’ and ‘Addiction’. As you can see, finesse is not their thing, and with Jhonny’s gutturals, Chechu and César’s riffs, plus Alex’s bass expertise and Tete’s bestialism on drums, the scientific police won’t find too much of your body after a full listen to this opus.
On the other hand, they might recognise you instantly because they find your head as a trophy, as in this cover by Indonesian artist Ardha Lepa (Sinister, Malignancy, Putrid Pile)...
Besides telling stories based on 80s horror films, Mainbrain also criticises religious and political aspects in their lyrics, even emphasising the use of guns in USA. Thus, Jawbreaker is a deadly cocktail, in which the Andalusian band gives free rein to their violence to tell us about a sick and macabre world that, unfortunately, is not so far from reality.
