Today’s review is of the upcoming split between the American band Ritual Necromancy and the Brazilian band Fossilization, out on February 25th.
These 3 tracks are an ominous offering of Death Doom Metal at its most oppressive peak. If the split should be described with a single adjective, that would be cavernous. This is hard-hitting Death Doom Metal in a slow and merciless form, with some serious Portal influences prevalent especially on the long and deathly Ritual Necromancy song, though they may also be found on the 2 Fossilization tracks in a lesser quantity similarly to their debut EP.
Fans of soul-crushing Death Metal in the likes of Incantation may also enjoy this release. If you want something primitive, dark and nefarious then look no further. The pitch black aura of this split is exactly what Death Doom Metal should be about. Deprived of melody and beauty, all that is left on the release is hellish extremity.
I recommend this album to fans of Death Doom Metal. My rating is of 9,5/10.
