CHRONOMANCY – SHADOWS IN ATLANTIS (Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Greek Power Metal band Chronomancy’s debut album.

This release lingers in the fine line between Epic Heavy Metal and Power Metal, and it includes a vast array of elements from each. Sacrificing almost all of its possible roughness to deliver a purely epic full-length, the band manages to create a sublime and mythic aura that reminisces some Folk influences too, but as a consequence a listener who isn’t a fanatic of the genre may find the album somewhat long and boring given the lack of heaviness to accompany most of the atmospheres.

Nonetheless, if one enjoys fantastic Heavy Metal as performed by so many NWOTHM bands, one will find this release a strong offering of musical magic filled with catchy choruses. My personal highlights are “Rebirth” and “Thunderchild”.

I recommend this album to fans of Power Metal and Epic Heavy Metal. My rating is of 8/10.
