Today’s review is of Canadian Melodic Death Metal band Primalfrost’s new album.
This release mixes a virtuous though sometimes melodically overloaded kind of Melodeath with the modern type of Folk Metal that definitely strays from actual Folk until becoming another kind of easily accessible sort of Extreme Metal. Tinting this with the slightest pinch of Black Metal to distantly reminisce Dissection, while many melodies may remind of Children Of Bodom (especially with the keyboard-complemented guitar solos) with more blast beats.
Despite the fast tempo and furious vocals, the sort of upbeat epic aura created reminds more of Power Metal than of Extreme Metal subgenres. Fans of undeniably virtuous guitar acrobatics upon genre bending, violent, modern and almost over produced soundscapes will enjoy this release. My personal highlights are “Bringer Of Immensity” and “Solace Kingdom”.
I recommend this album to fans of Melodic Death Metal and not-too-folk Folk Metal. My rating is of 8/10.
