Today’s review is of Norwegian Heavy Metal band Warzaw’s upcoming new album, out on December 31st.
This album combines a classic approach to Heavy Metal with some faster epic bits that suggest Speed Metal influences and happier, catchy and sleazy 90s Hard Rock elements. While the resulting sound is a clear example of NWOTHM, the latter element gives a differencing point that gives the songs a carefree undertone with some commercial friendliness at the cost of some of its force.
Overall, the album is a light kind of Heavy Metal with flagrant solos that give an ideal melodic backing to the merry vocal performance. This element of Heavy Metal confidently depraved of seriousness may be vaguely compared to some tracks of Dragonforce’s last album, but 90s Hard Rock and Heavy Metal are nearer comparisons. Though the mean side of the genre is absent, it’s a pretty decent release. My personal highlights are “Santa Mira” and “Pistols Of Dawn”.
I recommend this album to fans of Heavy Metal and Hard Rock. My rating is of 7,5/10.
