Today’s review is of German Experimental Black Metal band Kravt Durch Krebs’ new album.
This release is hard to catalogue, and the Black Metal depiction may only be accurate at times, though it is in essence Extreme Metal. What makes this full-length unique is its broad implementation of Noise elements that would usually translate into Industrial Black Metal, even though in this case it is used more to create unsettling ambiences that create an oddly soothing atmosphere of macabre obscurity.
Adding rough and merciless melodies of German malice in the likes of Rammstein to a really hard to describe sort of Black Metal remotely reminiscent of Wolvennest or even Zwetwezen mixed with tons of uncompromising rawness and a pinch of unfathomably distorted jazz, the result may be confusing when expressed in words, but sonically gratifying to the enjoyer of occult and dark music whose taste knows no bounds. Though this one is difficult to listen if you’re unaccustomed to Experimental Metal, it is worth it. My personal highlights are “Frequenzerhalter” and “Kopfkriecher”.
I recommend this album to fans of Industrial Black Metal, Experimental Black Metal and Avant-Garde Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
