Today’s review is of Catalan Death Metal band Angoixa’s upcoming new album, out on December 17th.
This album takes a putrid and brutal approach to drag the listener into a gory and cavernous dystopia, taking as a main approach the American kind of Death Metal while adding some slower almost Death Doom bits and a moderate amount of melody to compensate the carnage too.
If you’re looking for something aggressive and foul yet slightly dark in its grotesque and fairly modern essence, then look no further. Although at times the album may feel somewhat monotonous to a listener who is not a diehard Death Metal fan, certain tracks are more dynamic and the general atmosphere may be enjoyed in them; a whole play is not entirely recommendable if this kind of Extreme Metal isn’t one of your main tastes, but if it is this is a solid full-length. My personal highlights are “La Crisàlide” and “Els Oblidats”.
I recommend this album to fans of Death Metal, Death Doom Metal and Brutal Death Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
