Today’s review is of American Death Metal band Acheron’s EP “Satanic Victory”, celebrating its upcoming rerelease.
This release is a cult offering of obscure Death Metal at its finest. Featuring a powerful vocal performance and a steady assault throughout the EP, the band play in a slower way than usual, allowing thus a hard-hitting yet always classic in approach kind of Death Metal. While this approach may remind slightly of Six Feet Under since it adds some rock n’ roll despite this being a much fouler and obscure kind of it, the EP reminds more of a rawer and slower version of Morbid Angel, being as so a dark, occult and certainly satanic piece of quality American Death Metal.
If you haven’t checked it out yet, this rerelease is the perfect opportunity to do so. If you enjoy classic American Death Metal that leans towards darkness instead of hollow brutality, this is what you’re looking for. My personal highlights are “Seven Deadly Sins” and “Prayer Of Hell”, but here are no fillers.
I recommend this album to fans of American Death Metal. My rating is of 9/10.
