Today’s review is of Romanian Black Metal band Ordinul Negru’s new EP.
Consisting of a single lengthy track, this release may bring to mind in content as well as technical prowess Balmog’s “Pillars Of Salt” or Deathspell Omega’s “Chaining The Katechon”. With this considered, the EP also maintains the occult essence of their other releases such as “Sorcery Of Darkness”, with the same oppressive passages of aggression juxtaposed with clearer bits of not any more lenient mysticism.
The release certainly displays the band’s progression and maturity, though perhaps at times their growing ability may gnaw the essence of their older atmosphere. Nonetheless, this flaw is minimal and rarely appreciated, with their same hypnotical beauty being once again delivered. Fans of their older material and newcomers who enjoy the most occult kind of Black Metal may enjoy this song/EP alike. After each listen, it seems to grow in mysterious grandeur, so multiple plays are recommended to fully grasp its content.
I recommend this release to fans of Black Metal. My rating is of 9,5/10.
