Intergalactic battles, paranormal activities, dismal deities, slowness... and presence, lots of presence. On 29 October Cruzeiro will release their eponymous debut album, but listening to their stoner doom, no one would say that this is their debut. Surely the experience of their vocalist Beatriz Onix, a sorceress who was previously in Misty Grey and Barren Plains, or the guitarist Gon.B, also a member of the black metallers Akouphenom, has a lot to do with it.
Recorded, mixed and mastered by Javi Félez at Moontower Studios (Teitanblood, Graveyard, Balmog, Barbarian Swords...) in early September 2020, Cruzeiro will make any acolyte of Electric Wizard, Om, Sleep, Black Sabbath, Reverend Bizarre, or Windhand cross portals to other planes through these four songs full of skillful spells.
These riffs like mountains, not exempt from moments of loaded and acid-drenched solos, have been underpinned by a layout and artwork by Beto in an artistic direction together with Beatriz. For this artwork they have compiled drawings by bassist Raposa! and this is a joint release between Interstellar Smoke Records for the CD and LP (in December if all goes well), Vertebrae also for the CD, and Lunar Seas Records and Cain Records for the tape.
In this initial album the Galician quartet has revealed itself as a perfect master of the style, adding a pinch of speed when needed and descending towards the most demolishing pause as doom metal demands. Connect your sixth sense to Cruzeiro and get ready for the trip.
