Ronan Furlong Releases New Album - Ataraxia

I am delighted to present to you the brand new album from Ronan Furlong “Ataraxia”

Ronan is an Irish musician/songwriter who has been writing and performing his own material for over 30 years. In this time he has produced a diverse repertoire of highly original, thought-provoking music which spans many musical genres and styles. The hallmarks of his music are strong melodies, a  committed vocal style, skillful guitar playing, and refreshingly unique (and sometimes abstract) lyrical themes that complement and elevate the underlying song.

He is a renowned guitarist who can play a diverse range of styles. His first guitar teacher was  Wexford author, playwright, musician and performer Billy Roche. He subsequently received lessons from Mexican guitar virtuosos, Rodrigo y Gabriella, whom he met after one of their early performances in Dublin.
Ronan typically plays and writes all of the music on his recordings. He prefers to perform unaccompanied with just a guitar and a microphone in a live setting. His recordings are produced and mastered by musician/producer Michael “Mick” Egan, one of the most respected figures on the music scene in Southeast Ireland, and Brendan Carthy of Orchard Studios (who provides his exceptional drumming skills to some of Ronan’s more ‘Rock’  oriented material).

Ronan’s interest in history and philosophy (Greek and Rome, in particular), is apparent from his lyrics. He feels that these ancient writings still hold valuable lessons for the 21st century and are as relevant today as they were 2,000 years ago.

Many of his songs will conjure leaps of the imagination into unfamiliar worlds, whilst others seek to explore the thoughts and emotions of a protagonist as he/she grapples to make sense of a  seemingly random universe.

Ronan has sought to build on the success of his ‘King Of Leaves’ album (which was placed no 7 in the    Hotpress Best Albums of 2021, with the title song going to no 7 on the Hit Tracks 100 and Rock Radio UK naming Ronan as their ‘Breakthrough Artist of 2021’) with his brilliant follow up ‘Ataraxia’. His aim was to make the album as diverse and interesting as possible with particular emphasis on the guitar and vocals. The results cross musical styles from gentle acoustic ballads, Space, Celtic, Classic and Mystical Rock to upbeat complex guitar picking.
