Today’s review is of Spanish Death Metal band Putrevore’s new album.
In a clear worship of the old-school, this release delivers some ominous and hard-hitting riffs of pure carnage. Taking a pure Death Metal approach that often leans towards Brutal Death Metal, the release may also have some distant influences of Death Doom Metal in certain slow and oppressive parts.
While no true innovation is perpetrated here, this is a powerful album of violent Extreme Metal that shakes the listeners to their core. Mixing the frontal assault of speed and gore with occasional passages of dark atmospheres to give some depth and obscurity to the music (maybe comparable in this aspect to Nile), the album may feel perhaps too repetitive for people who aren’t diehard fans of Death Metal and as so may not be capable of a full immersion; this one is surely not an easy listen but it’s worth your while. My personal highlights are “Terrible End Of The Conjurer” and “Bloodlust Of The Sleepers”.
I recommend this album to fans of Death Metal and Brutal Death Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
