MINDLESS SINNER – MISSIN PIECES ( Review By Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Swedish Heavy Metal band Mindless Sinner’s second album, celebrating its rerelease next month.

Marking a stylistic shift from their debut, here the band plays no longer a purist brand of Heavy Metal in a NWOBHM worship. Instead, the album takes a dive into Melodic Hard Rock with bands such as Europe as influences, although their original Heavy Metal power is still present even if its hidden. The resulting sound may remind sometimes of Scorpions in the late 80s, and the power ballads such as “A Dream Of A Dream” only enforce this point.

While this album may be more accessible and includes some sadly ignored commercial potential, fans of their early material and Heavy Metal in general should still like the release. While other bands such as Europe or Dokken master the style in a better way, this hidden gem of Swedish Hard Rock deserves some more attention, and hopefully this reissue shall grant it this. My personal highlights are “Rockin’ In The Heat Of The Night” and “Reflections Of Fantasia”.

I recommend this album to fans of Heavy Metal and Melodic Hard Rock. My rating is of 8,5/10.
