IMAGO IMPERII – A TALE OF DARKNESS AND HOPE ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of Italian Power Metal band Imago Imperii’s new album.

This conceptual album about the Inquisition tells a cursed tale in the most epic and Power Metal way possible. Displaying the talent of Italians in the genre once more, the album may remind of other acts such as Rhapsody.

The band play a virtuous and old school approach to the genre, never forgetting the Heavy Metal roots even though they strive towards Symphonic Metal at times. While the individual songs are enjoyable for any fan of the genre, it feels as if the full-length is excessively long and repetitive, with the same simplified formula appearing again and again with few exceptions. Nonetheless, diehards may still find it good and will find 2 sweet bonus tracks to finish satiating their hunger for fantastic metal, and listeners who only slightly enjoy Power Metal may easily like certain tracks, such as “Look At The Stars” or “Darkness And Hope”.

I recommend this album to fans of Pow

er Metal. My rating is of 8/10.
