Today’s review is of American Death Metal band Holy Death’s new album.
Delivering an oppressive kind of Death Metal that relies on slowness and hard hitting riffs, the band seems to have developed a sort of unique style where the songs are slow and near the border with Death Doom Metal, although this stylistic frontier doesn’t quite seem to be trespassed. With this positioning, the album reeks despair without losing any extremity in the process.
With a great guitar sound in the likes of the Swedish masters, the full-length includes heavy songs such as “Sacrifice Like Lambs”, “Shame” or the epic closing title track. With even some Stoner tints being heavily distorted yet apparent in certain riffs, the album also has a certain hypnotic effect stained in brutality.
I recommend this album to fans of Death Metal and Death Doom Metal. My rating is of 8,5/10.
