Today’s review is of Swedish Death Metal band Coffin Creep’s new album, “Voids”.
Delivering a swift punch from the putrescent depths of the undergrounds, the album is a powerful display of old-school Swedish Death Metal done the right way. With their cavernous vocals and that sweet distortion, Coffin Creep’s riffs will surely rip you apart. The unwavering essence of brutality is present throughout the whole release, but with the constant use of slowed-down spine-crushing melodies the full-length has an extra bit of force in the likes of Asphyx that at the same time enshrouds the whole experience in an occult aura.
As any good album of the subgenre, there’s also that bit of Rock n’ Roll in a nice Motörhead worship that adds some fun and ease to the listening. Ranging from straightforward tracks with no bullshit to despairingly ominous songs of utter devastation, the release has a dynamic tracklist that makes it more enjoyable. My personal highlights are “Iron Whiskey” and “Nekropolis”.
I recommend this album to fans
of Swedish Death Metal. My rating is of 9,5/10.
