Today’s review is of Australian Heavy Doom Metal band Raven Black Night’s new album.
This release captures perfectly the essence of pure Sabbath worship and Saint Vitus glory not only in the song-writing, but also in the rawness of the release. Full of proto-Stoner riffs, crazy drums and 70s solos and vocal performance, this album is the clear definition of old-school.
The time when pioneers started to slow down Heavy Metal in search of uniqueness is well portrayed, with even the same wah-wahs and similar effects to accompany their catchy riffs and choruses. My personal highlights are “Water Well” and “Sheeba (Queen Of The Ravens)”, but this album is full of neat tracks (although it may be too long for the most impatient out there).
I recommend this album to fans of 70s Rock, Heavy Metal and classic Doom Metal. My rating is of 9/10.
