Today’s review is of Colombian Thrash Death Metal band Misticia’s album XVA.
This album features the usual brutality attributed to the genre, while there are also some more atmospheric passages, bits of folk and even the occasional breakdown that adds some slower heaviness too. All of this is ideally crafted to accompany the scorn and lamentations of a lost world, whose fury against the western demons still remains in the blood and music of their descendants.
While tracks such as “Marrichiweu” and “Mallku” display a powerful sonic aggression, there are also songs featuring more technical atmospheres or interludes of differently portrayed feelings. Thanks to brutal riffs and a vocal performance in the likes of “Brujeria”, this is an interesting release, though it is not quite as usual Thrash Death releases.
I recommend this album to fans of Thrash Death Metal and OSDM. My rating is of 8/10.
