Today’s review is of Finnish Death Metal band Mask Of Satan’s new album.
This release starts as another classic display of their nation’s ability to deliver their own brand of OSDM, but as the album progresses some slight Death Doom tints start to fill their riffs. As the full-length starts to get slower and slower, new tints of darkness start to appear and the melodies start to acquire a more unique style.
While this never reaches pure Death Doom, the last songs are clearly slower than usual Death Metal. Therefore, fans of slow bands can enjoy this as much as fans of the most brutal, bass-driven and skullcrushing Death Metal aggression given the dynamic approach. My personal highlights are “Corpsewitch” and the title track.
I recommend this album to fans of Death Doom Metal and Finnish OSDM. My rating is of 8/10.
