Metal Injection is now hosting an in-studio live set from Minnesota-based metallic hardcore outfit BLUE OX, formed by former members of Dead To Fall, Devilinside, Ambassador Gun, Coma Eternal, and more. The set has been made available this week as the band prepares to play live in Chicago supporting Dead To Fall, The Killer, and more this weekend.
BLUE OX recently released their third full-length LP, Holy Vore, unloading a thunderous display of metallic hardcore, d-beat punk, catchy mid-paced chugging, mosh bursts, and fervent howling vocals, embodied by lyrical themes of despair and self-sabotage. The album was recorded, mixed, and mastered at Signaturetone Recording in Minneapolis by Adam Tucker and completed with art and design by the band’s Luke Olson and Dennis Hanson.
After recording the LP, BLUE OX returned to Signaturetone and recorded a live set showcasing the album’s crushing songs in an intimate performance.
The band’s Luke Olson reveals, "The live Holy Vore set was recorded at Signaturetone Recording with Adam Tucker at the helm, the same place we recorded the album. This was recorded in early April and the band was at various stages of getting vaxxed so we're masked-up besides Dennis. We shot this in one evening and edited and stitched the takes and it features all songs from the new record. Dan eventually destroyed his kick drum head on the very last song we recorded around 11:30 PM that night. That felt like the catalyst to call it a wrap."
With the performance video, Metal Injection writes, “Minnesota-based metallic hardcore outfit BLUE OX, have unleashed one hell of a live performance of the latest album Holy Vore. In all its metallic hardcore glory, Holy Vore will get you riling in the pit with punky energy and howling vocals, but also nice breakups of rhythmic chugging and dynamic lyrics.”

The new video performance has been issued just days ahead of the band’s show in Chicago this weekend. This Friday, August 5th, BLUE OX will play their first show since before the pandemic lockdowns, at a massive outdoor gathering supporting co-headliners Dead To Fall and The Killer, with additional support from Year Of The Knife, Sunset, and Gridiron.
