Today’s review is of Chilean Speed Metal band Amnessia Eterna’s new album.
Pinning this album down as simply old-school Speed Metal wouldn’t be quite correct, for the release also includes power ballads, bits of shred and tends to lean towards Thrash Metal, though also with absolutely clear influences of Spanish Crust Punk acts such as RIP.
Not only because of the songs sung in Spanish, but also by the informal and friendly approach to the style, also influenced perhaps by bands like Lujuria that lean towards Heavy Metal. All in all, these broad and genre merging compositions strip the album of a certain sense of cohesion, provoking possibly some confusion in the listener. Nonetheless, fans of Spanish-sung Metal should check this out.
I recommend this album to fans of Crust Punk, Speed Metal, Heavy Metal and Thrash Metal. My rating is of 7/10.
