Today’s review is of Greek Hard Rock band The Harps’ debut album.
Led by a powerful female vocal performance in the likes of Doro, this album reminisces strongly 70s Rock bands like Deep Purple or Uli Jon Roth-era Scorpions while also delivering songs that approach Blues Rock or even Folk Rock with slights similitudes to Blackmore’s Night.
While the dominant element of the release is clearly the voice (sometimes even with some excessive overshadowing of the other instruments), there are also old-school guitar solos and a great use of keyboards. My personal highlights are “Wireflame” and “Immortal Soldier”. This band is another great example of 70s worshipping new bands, and may be enjoyed by fans of Acid’s Trip or Jess And The Ancient Ones.
I recommend this album to fans of 70s Rock, Blues Rock and Folk Rock. My rating is of 8,5/10.
