Today’s review is of Spanish Blackened Death Metal band Phraxathon’s debut album.
Leaning more towards a purely Black Metal approach though allowing some energy and intent of Blackened Death Metal to enter the compositions, this band delivers straightforward Extreme Metal in a classic and well-explored way.
Although this release may not stand out greatly, it is surely not bad and may be enjoyable by many fans of the genre. This fast-paced album full of tremolo-picked mayhem may give you well your daily dose of violence, but in some parts bad attempts at clear vocal passages damage somewhat the atmosphere. My personal highlights are “Unreal” and “Follow The Black Bird”.
I recommend this album to fans of Black Metal and Blackened Death Metal. My rating is of 7,5/10.
