Today’s review is of Belgian Black Metal band Gotmoor’s comeback album.
This release is an offering of purely aggressive and old-school Black Metal in the likes of Aetherius Obscuritas or other straightforward bands, though here they have also added some elements of Blackened Death Metal that remind somewhat of Dark Funeral.
Despite the majority of the album not displaying a strong amount of innovation, this is a decent full-length that may be well enjoyed. Notably, there are some short segments with keyboards that create epic undertones that achieve a stronger soundscape, and they are carefully implemented to avoid excess or stylistic shifts. My personal highlights are “Land van Niets” and “Aradia’s Geheim”. If you’re searching for well implemented uses of the 90s Black Metal formula, you may like this release.
I recommend this album to fans of Black Metal and Blackened Death Metal. My rating is of 8/10.
