Radically evolving by combining crossover genres with rock and metal, it has become clear that Within Temptation have never set limits on their music. The band now goes one step further by announcing the details of a show that is out of this world - literally! Welcome to Within Temptation: The Aftermath - A virtual reality show.
Sharon den Adel: “During the pandemic we didn't want to do a live concert. The magic of seeing and hearing a band perform live, combined with the energy of the crowd, is something that cannot be recreated through a broadcast. So for a long time we couldn't come up with any ideas. We only knew one thing for sure: we wouldn't commit to doing a live broadcast without being able to offer something out of the ordinary, something amazing, intriguing, spectacular and mythical!! "
“Then we found it: a world that we could shape into our wildest fantasies and in which we, as a band, could perform while maintaining the dynamics and magic of our traditional live show. We are absolutely thrilled to invite you to Within Temptation: The Aftermath - A Show In A Virtual Reality. A show that takes place in different settings of a post-apocalyptic world, in which we witness the aftermath of the destruction of humanity. A world in which it is unknown if anyone or anything of the human race survived. It is a search for answers both about his future and about his legacy ”- Sharon den Adel.

With this show, Within Temptation builds a bridge between now and the next time the band will be able to play again. “We are absolutely devastated that the Worlds Collide Tour has been delayed again and we cannot play live in the same venue as our fans. Along with this event, Within Temptation announces the release of a new single "Shed My Skin", one week before the virtual show (June 25, 2021). For this song, the band has teamed up with the German metalcore band Annisokay. A bombastic and heartfelt metal hymn has come out of this collaboration.
'Shed My Skin' is the third in Within Temptation's series of indie singles and will be released on all digital platforms on June 25, 2021. The official video clip for the song will premiere during Within Temptation: The Aftermath - A Show In A Virtual Reality on July 8 and 9, 2021.
