The Yalla Yallas - ‘What it Means to be Human’

We are pleased to announce that The Yalla Yallas fifth album ‘What it Means to be Human’ is out TODAY to coincide with the summer solstice. The album will also be released later in the summer on CD and Limited Edition Orange Vinyl, and both editions will feature a 20 page booklet featuring artwork and lyrics. Pre-orders are already taking place at http://www.theyallayallas.com/store

‘What it Means to be Human’ sees the band drifting from their usual political punk approach in favour of something more reflective and introspective. The album was written and recorded between June 2020 and April 2021 at Loom Studios. It was decided early on to tap into a new well of influences such as Bob Dylan’s Blood on the Tracks, Brian Eno’s Another Green World, and Joe Strummers Rock, Art, and the X-Ray Style. During recording the band would use Brian Eno’s Oblique Strategy cards which aided the band in trying out new ideas and experimentation, band members would be swapping roles and instruments, choruses aren’t as prominent, and lyrics were written from a new perspective.

The first single ‘Morning Sun’ had a positive welcoming by fans old and new, receiving plenty of airplay and even a five star review from ThePunkSite.org.com, and Isaac from Slaves praised the single highly on the Bangers and Trash Radio show.

‘I Wanna Live’ is the opening track on ‘What it Means to be Human’ and is already available as a single!
