STEPHEN CRANE & DUANE SCIACQUA – BIG GUNS ( Review by Varg The Mighty )

Today’s review is of American Hard Rockers Stephen Crane & Duane Sciacqua’s upcoming album, out on July 30th.

Originally intended as a self-titled debut back in the 80s, it’s good to see these remastered and partially rerecorded songs finally get the attention they deserve. Combining Melodic Hard Rock with a healthy dose of Blues and commercial appeal, these tracks clearly capture their zeitgeist.

Mostly, the album reminds highly of “5150”-era Van Halen (especially vocal-wise, but also in the heavy yet appropriate use of synths), but it also has clear AOR and slight Glam Rock influences together perhaps even with the feeling of Ozzy Osbourne’s ballads. My personal highlights are “Crazy In Love”, “Bad Girls” and “Combat Zone”. Any enjoyer of 80s Rock & Roll will surely enjoy this lost gem and its feeling that is impossible to recreate nowadays.

I recommend this album to fans of 80s Hard Rock, Melodic Hard Rock and AOR. My rating is of 8,5/10.
